What is the working-time fund?
The working-time fund is the number of hours an employee works in a given period. It is derived from the number of working days (Monday to Friday excluding public holidays) multiplied by the length of the working day. The calendar assumes full-time 40 h/week (8 h/day), but you can set your own weekly hours and the fund is recalculated.
Public holidays in the Czech Republic
Public holidays are governed by Act No. 245/2000 Coll. Most have fixed dates; Good Friday and Easter Monday are movable and follow the date of Easter — the calendar computes them automatically. If a holiday falls on a weekend, no substitute day off arises.

How many working days does a year have?
The number of working days varies year to year depending on how weekends fall and how many holidays land on a working day — usually 250–253 working days. How is the working-time fund calculated? +
The working-time fund is the sum of hours an employee works in a period. It is the number of working days (Monday to Friday excluding public holidays) multiplied by the length of the working day. For a full-time 40-hour week that is 8 hours per day. The calculator computes it automatically, including for shorter or custom weekly hours.
Do public holidays count towards the working-time fund? +
A public holiday that falls on a normal working day does not count as worked time in the fund. Employees on a monthly salary are still paid for the holiday, though. The calendar therefore shows the fund both excluding and including holidays.
How many public holidays are there in the Czech Republic? +
Act No. 245/2000 Coll. sets 13 days of rest per year: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, Victory Day, Saints Cyril and Methodius Day, Jan Hus Day, Czech Statehood Day, Independent Czechoslovak State Day, Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day, Christmas Eve and the two Christmas holidays.
Are Good Friday and Easter Monday public holidays? +
Yes, both are days of rest. They are movable — their date depends on Easter, which changes each year. The calendar computes them automatically for any year.
Is compensatory time off given when a holiday falls on a weekend? +
No. If a public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, no compensatory day off arises. Such holidays are shown but do not affect the working-time fund.
How many working days does a year have? +
